The FDIC has issued a final rule amending the FDIC Rules and Regulations
governing signage requirements for insured depository institutions’ (IDIs’)
digital deposit-taking channels and automated teller machines (ATMs) and like
devices and pushed back the compliance date to April 1, 2027.

Key elements of the final rule include:

  • Digital sign flexibility: Additional flexibility for the FDIC official digital sign,
including less prescriptive requirements for color, font, size, and layout.
  • Digital channels: Streamlined signage requirements for digital deposit
taking channels, such as bank websites and mobile applications.
  • ATMs and like devices: Clarified and streamlined signage requirements
for ATMs and similar devices, including rules tied to when a device is
    placed into service.

The final rule addresses implementation issues and potential confusion
that emerged following the FDIC’s 2023 signage rule, while still helping
consumers understand when they are interacting with an FDIC‑insured
institution and when their funds are protected.
